Health is an Inside-out Transformation

Strengthen your mind.
Strengthen your immunity.
Your best defense against
dis-ease is you.
— Silva Barraso, RDN, LDN

The type of nutrition counseling I practice, and that I find most effective for lasting results, is based on an inside-out transformation, centered on your innermost motivation system.

Health requires a variety of health strategies to make meaningful lifestyle changes, as well as ongoing support and guidance.  I do not teach a specific diet but can utilize aspects from some of the best known ones to inform individual decision making. I rely on a combination of evidence based knowledge and coaching strategies to guide our work together and support your progress. I create a nonjudgmental environment where you will feel supported, empowered, and inspired to do your best work.

Throughout our working relationship, I will help you plan, track habits, and set goals, as well as assess progress. Our work together will help build a great foundation for you and your family for many years to come and will hold you steady amid constantly changing diet advice. Whatever your current health status, I want to set you up with preventative systems that will support your ongoing journey towards health.

lifestyle diseases

Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and health professionals across the board agree that nutrition services are one of the first treatments that individuals should receive to improve conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and hypertension.

The earlier you begin your work towards improving your diet and increasing your physical activity, the stronger the chance of preventing these diseases.

migraines & mental health

Migraine symptoms involve the whole body and affect your sleep, vision, hearing, balance, spine & muscles, and overall energy, making everyday living seem impossible.

Inadequate nutrition, lack of movement, emotional & physical trauma, are some key aspects that interplay to express a migraine state, but also anxiety, depression, and other mental health imbalances. A multi-pronged approach is necessary for tackling such complex states throughout the mental health continuum.

Women’s Health

Knowing what to do, what to eat, how to establish healthy habits before, during, and after pregnancy, is critically important and will help you feel more empowered. Questions and challenges are also part of the process and they arise daily.

Let me support you in this incredible undertaking by sharing with you the benefits of breastfeeding, the importance of a healthy diet, as well as best practices for fertility, pregnancy, newborns, and setting yourself, your baby, and your family, up for long-term success.

Working Together

Initial assessment
A comprehensive lifestyle assessment is key to addressing all aspects of health and to working towards a better functioning you.

During the first 1-2 session, we will assess your current state of health, understand your goals, and determine the best course of action.

What you will need for the intake process and first appointment:
- bring your questions, concerns, and goals
- bring most recent laboratory values
- complete a comprehensive health history
- review and sign disclosure & privacy policy forms

Follow up appointments
It's important to set realistic goals and re-assess them as we continue to work together and as life takes many shapes.

During sessions, we focus on the most effective strategies for your circumstances and track your progress. The number of sessions will vary.

A typical format for sessions will encompass:
- nutrition counseling (a deep dive into your relationship with food, your body, and health and/or disease)
- making entries on diet & lifestyle tracker
- creating weekly menus & shopping lists
- weekly goals
- analysis of macro & micro nutrients
- education & coaching about healthy habits
